Inbound Link Analysis
Inbound links are one of the major factors that contribute to search engine rankings.
Good anchor text (the words other sites link to yours with) and the popularity/relevance of the websites linking to you is also very important.
Here’s how you can get a list of sites that link back to you. It’s not perfect, but it gives you a foundation for analysis:
1) Go to Yahoo!’s Site Explorer.
2) Enter your website URL in the top form.
3) Once the results are displayed, click on the “InLinks” button.
4) On the “Show Links” drop down, select: “Except from this domain”
5) And in the “to” dropdown, select: “Entire Site”
6) Download the report into a spreadsheet, visit some of the sites and make notes on the anchor text and site contents.
7) If you see an opportunity to contact the site owner, consider asking them to alter the anchor text to better match the key phrases you are trying to rank for.
We can also build you a report on how you are currently doing in this realm and from there we can develop a link building campaign.
